About Vipasana Meditation

Vipassana meditation comes from Theravada, Buddhism’s Oldest School of Thought. In Pali, an ancient language of Buddhism the word Vipassana means Seeing things as they are.” In other words, special seeing. It involves observing our thoughts and emotions as they are, without judging or dwelling on them. In this meditation, we focus on a specific object, image, or task to actively trained our mind and body to do something specific. Instead of focusing on a specific task or mantra, it involves using consciousness to remove distractions that prevent a person from seeing reality and it also sharpens our attention. It is beneficial for mind and body both.

In simple words, we have to focus or concentrate on a specific object to remove our distractions.

  1. It reduces stress and gives relief to them.
  2. It helps to enhance mindfulness.
  3. It increases blood circulation in the body and reduces chronic pain.
  4. It improves mental wellness like- self-acceptance, competence, engagement, and growth.
  5. It reduces anxiety and promotes brain plasticity.
