Swedana is a process where it induce sweat (sudation) artificially in a patient who has already gone in Snehana. It is used in Ayurvedic treatment, there are different types of swedana. It is also called steam therapy or steam bath. Swedana is a form of therapy that uses herbal steam to release toxins from the body through the sweating. Swedana helps in balancing Dosha Vata, Pitta, and Kapha in the body. Swedana therapy includes Kizhi and Dhanyamla Dhara, it is a full-body therapy and using fermented medicated solutions. For this purpose a steam bath chamber is required. Medicinal herbs is kept boiling in the steam bath chamber where the steam is generated and applied all over the body. The patient is advised to lie down inside the steam chamber inside after massage with warm oil. Swedana is of 4 types-:
- Tapa Sweda
- Ushma Sweda
- Upnaha Sweda
- Drava Sweda
