About Navarakizhi (Shashtika Shali Pinda Sweda)
Navarakizhi is also known as Shashtika Shali Pinda Sweda in Sanskrit where Shashtika means 60, Shali means Rice, Pinda means Poultice, and Sweda means Sweating. In Navarakizhi, the massage is done with cotton bags full of Navara rice, it is cooked rice with herbal water and cow’s milk. These bags are dipped in the same mixture and applied all over the body after a general massage. It is an ayurvedic treatment for balance Vata and Pitta dosh. Navarakizhi is very dominant for giving relief to stress. It detoxifies our body and and brings about strength to body muscles and improves neurological disorders.
It is a type of massage which induces sweat and provide strength to the muscles for rejuvenating and re-energizing the body and we also called Njavarakizhi.
