How Meditation Impacts Your Mind and Body

 About Meditation

Meditation helps you to relax in a stressful lifestyle. When our senses often become dull, meditation allows us to increase our awareness. Research shows that meditation can give us temporary relief from stress. Due to its relaxing and soothing benefits, experts recommend meditation for a healthy and active life.

Meditation is suitable for people of all personalities and lifestyles and can be practised by everyone.

People who practice meditation get a chance to improve their physical health as well as emotional health through its practice.

What is Meditation–

Meditation is a mental exercise that involves relaxation, focus, and awareness. Just as physical exercise works for the body, meditation is an exercise for the mind. This practice is usually done individually while sitting in a calm position with eyes closed.

In which a person focuses on a particular object, thought, or activity using a technique, such as mindfulness, to increase focus and awareness. Its practice makes a person mentally clear and provides peace and stability emotionally.

Benefits of Meditation–

  • Meditation is beneficial for your health in many ways. It makes you physically, mentally, and emotionally healthy.
  • relief from mental conditions like anxiety, depression, and despair by calming your mind.provides Meditation
  • Regular practice of meditation also reduces the symptoms of anxiety disorders such as phobias, social anxiety, paranoid thoughts, compulsive disorders, etc.
  • Meditation slows down the process of ageing and helps in keeping you young.
  • Meditation keeps you relaxed which helps you in getting good sleep.

Types of Meditation–

Zen Meditation–

Zen meditation is a part of the Buddhist tradition. It should be practised under the guidance of a trained professional. Its practice involves some special steps and asanas. It helps in sharpening your mind and provides you relaxation by removing stress.

Mindfulness Meditation–

Mindfulness meditation is a form of meditation that helps the practitioner remain aware and present in the present. By practicing this meditation you can make yourself conscious and alert. During its practice, you concentrate on all the activities, sounds, and smells happening around you. It can be practised anywhere, anytime.

Spiritual Meditation–

Spiritual meditation helps you build a deeper relationship with your God. To practice this meditation, all you need to do is make sure that you sit in silence and focus on your breathing. While meditating, every thought of yours should be focused on your breathing.

 Kundalini yoga–

Kundalini yoga is a form of meditation in which you are physically active. It involves deep breathing and reciting mantras as well as several movements. This usually requires you to take a class or you can learn from an instructor. However, you can learn asanas and mantras at home too.

Mantra Meditation-

Mantra is a Sanskrit word made up of two words, man meaning “mind” or “to think” and trai meaning “to protect” or “to free from”. Therefore mantra means freeing your mind or freeing your thinking. Practising mantra meditation removes your mind from negative thoughts and moves it towards positivity.

The correct time of Meditation-

Meditation can be practiced at any time of the day, whenever you are comfortable doing it and the environment around you is suitable for focusing. However, it is considered most appropriate to practice meditation in the morning when the sun rises. It opens your senses, activates the mind, and calms the mind. Apart from this, you can also practice meditation in the evening.
